Rwanda hosts the Africa Men’s Volleyball Championship

  Sports

Kigali, Friday 10 September 2021 – The 23rd edition of the Volleyball Men's African Nations Championship is underway in Kigali from 7 to 16 September 2021. Rwanda is the first East African Nation to host the biennial international tournament organised by the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB).

16 national teams are participating in this year’s edition at the Kigali Arena, and the top two will represent Africa in the 2022 Volleyball Men's World Championship.

The 2021 Africa Women’s Volleyball Championship is also to be staged in Kigali from 12 – 20 September 2021.

These two international tournaments come after the Beach Volleyball World Tour held at the Lake Kivu Beach in Rubavu District in July 2021.

Other tournaments

Thanks to the state-of-the-art sports facilities and effective COVID-19 response, Rwanda successfully hosted the inaugural Basketball Africa League (BAL) in May 2021 and the recently concluded 2021 edition of the FIBA Afrobasket tournament.
