President Umaro Sissoco Embaló Visits Rwanda
Kigali, Wednesday 09 March 2022 – President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea-Bissau arrived on Monday for a three-day official visit to Rwanda to further strengthen bilateral relations.
On the first day of his visit, President Umaro visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where he laid a wreath to pay tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and was hosted to an official dinner later that day.
The two Heads of State witnessed the signing of MoUs on economic and trade cooperation, education as well as tourism, business events and conservation by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of both countries.
In his address, President Kagame said: “Our continent is large, and our countries are located far apart. The African Continental Free Trade Area offers many opportunities to engage with one another constructively. At the same time, threats are transnational, and equally, affect us all. Joining forces, and learning from one another, can only make us much stronger.”
President Umaro stated: "Rwanda and Guinea-Bissau have a lot we can do together, including exchanging experiences in various areas. South-South cooperation is beneficial, dynamic and objective."
On the second day of the visit, President Umaro Sissoco Embaló in the company of Minister of Trade and Industry, Minister Béata Habyarimana, visited Kigali Special Economic Zone where some manufacturing facilities and educational institutions operate.
Among the places he visited were; Africa Improved Foods, Carnegie Mellon University Africa, and Volkswagen Rwanda, a facility that assembles different car models of Volkswagen.
