President Kagame delivers Statement at the UN Headquarters in New York
Wednesday, 25 September 2019 - President Kagame delivered Rwanda's statement on the first day of the high-level General Debate during the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) underway at UN Headquarters in New York.
This year's theme is "Galvanizing multilateral efforts for poverty eradication, quality education, climate action, and inclusion".
In his statement, President Kagame commended the well-defined roadmaps for joint action on development, climate change, and global health.
"The international community stands at a crossroads. The two-thousand-twenties could be remembered in history as a turning point, or as the moment when multilateralism lost its way. Fortunately, the path forward is clear."
Later in the evening, President Kagame co-hosted the Commonwealth reception alongside Prime Minister Boris Johnson of the UK. Rwanda is set to host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting commonly known as CHOGM in 2020.
