President Kagame attends the 9th Smart Africa Board Meeting
Kigali, Monday 07 December 2020 – President Kagame has on Monday joined other Heads of State and Government, their representatives and other delegates for the 9th Smart Africa Board Meeting which took place virtually.
In his remarks, President Kagame said that the covid-19 pandemic has shown that connectivity is not a luxury, but a necessity; stressing that increasingly, the provision of education and health services depends on digital infrastructure. The good jobs of the future will also rely on technology skills and a digital identity.
President Kagame also noted that seven more countries have joined Smart Africa since the last board meeting in May 2019 bringing the membership to 31 countries. He also welcomed new members from the private sector.
Smart Africa’s mission is to define the continent’s digital agenda and drive the continental single digital market, all this is done through a series of projects and activities.
