About BAL

The Basketball Africa League (BAL), a partnership between the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and the National Basketball Association (NBA), is a new professional league featuring 12 club teams from across Africa. The BAL builds on the foundation of club competitions FIBA has organized in Africa and marks the NBA’s first collaboration to operate a league outside North America.

About the partnership

Visit Rwanda is the official Founding and Host Partner of the Basketball Africa League. Through the partnership, Rwanda hosted the first-ever Basketball Africa League tournament at the world class BK Arena during its first two seasons in 2021 and 2022 and is hosting the 2023 playoffs and finals from 20 - 27 May. This unique collaboration showcases Rwanda as a world-class tourism and investment destination and positions the country as a continental hub for sporting events and sports-based tourism. Visit Rwanda and the Basketball Africa League also collaborate on basketball and youth development initiatives.
